Christmas cards...
We all like receiving cards at Christmas but less of us enjoy actually
sending them! As much as we appreciate the need and pleasure of staying
in touch with our nearest and dearest, writing endless Christmas cards
is one of those jobs we like to avoid until the last minute. Ever
put them off until so late that you've missed the last posting date?
Here's ten suggestions to make sending cards more pleasurable:
1. Buy charity christmas cards, now readily available - at least then
you're helping someone else at the same time!
2. Get someone else to send them for you, especially if you have a
long list of contacts either for business or your personal life.
3. Keep your address list on the computer - it might take some time
initially to set up, but once you're printing out all your labels
it will repay you in dividends next year.
4. Do you have computer savvy kids? Get them to put your address list
onto the PC in exchange for .............
5. Do it online. If you've got email addresses then send out an e-card,
its quick and its cheap!
6. Only send cards to the people you really care about. If they're
not really worth making the effort of writing a card for, perhaps
you should be questioning whether its right to send one.
7. Or how about not sending cards at all? Its becoming much more common
nowadays for people to email their colleagues wishing them Happy Christmas
and letting them know they are donating £20 to charity rather
than buying cards this year.
8. If you tend to write reams on the inside of your cards, updating
everyone on what you've been up to, how about typing an update on
the computer and then inserting a copy into everyone's card. At least
then you only have to write it once.
9. If you're only sending a few cards this year to those who are really
special, how about making them yourself? Its creative, fun and will
mean a lot more.
10. And finally, don't forget to recycle your Christmas cards after
the event - either give them back to the Woodland Trust, or cut them
up into next year's gift tags
